The famous Isla de la Plata has an extension of about 7 km2, and is part of the protected area Machalilla National Park. It is recognized as a treasure of species biodiversity, with characteristics similar to the Galapagos Islands. Its formation is of continental origin where an important tropical dry forest predominates, imposing cliffs and a great scenic beauty. It has five trails that travel the island towards Punta Machete, Punta Escalera, Acantilados, Frigates and Patas Rojas. The main activity is the observation of colonies of seabirds that nest on the island as blue-footed, red-footed, nazca, cuckoos, frigates, pelicans, albatrosses and other tropical birds. 💡Curiosities: The visit is complemented by surface diving and snorkeling activities, mainly in the reefs Palo Santo and El Faro, where you can see tropical fish, sea turtles, sea lions, sharks and immense manta rays.
