Cotacachi–Cayapas National Park covers 243,638 hectares and is located between the cantons of Eloy Alfaro and San Lorenzo in Esmeraldas and in Cotacachi and Urcuquí in Imbabura. Entry is free and visiting hours are from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Walking the Worky Camposano trail takes 4 to 5 hours and during the journey, you can observe the Cuicocha lagoon as well as endemic birds and flora. 💡Fun facts: The park is home to the Chachi, Épera, Afro-Ecuadorian, Kichwa, and Awá populations. It hosts 139 species of mammals, 689 species of birds – making it the protected area with the greatest bird diversity in the country – 111 species of reptiles, and 124 species of amphibians.
