Between the cities of Guayaquil and Durán, in the middle of the great river Guayas, is the island Santay, formed by the accumulation of sediments. It is surrounded by mangrove trees, and inside there is a large esplanade that floods in winter times, as a testimony of the permanent relationship with the river. 💡Curiosities: This large wetland is used by water birds who find here an important resting place, refuge and nesting.
