Cotopaxi National Park is a reserve of 35,984 ha (88,920 acres), approximately 50 km (31 miles) from Quito, in the province of the same name. Located in the center of the inter-Andean corridor and very close to several cities, Cotopaxi National Park is one of the most visited. This beautiful park is ideal for walking and admiring the landscape, with Cotopaxi and mountains like Sincholagua and Rumiñahui dominating the horizon. Due to its size, hired transportation is recommended to reach the parking lot of the Cotopaxi Refuge. From there, you can opt for a short hike to the José Rivas Refuge of the volcano. 💡Fun facts: The predominant ecosystem is the páramo, and in some parts of the park, deer, rabbits, foxes, and even spectacled bears, pumas, and condors abound.
